Varsity is an established neighbourhood in the Northwest developed in the 1960s and early 1970s on a plateau to the north of the Bow River valley. Primary composed of single-detached home sitting on wide lots, these properties are a rare find in Calgary's suburbia. Bound by Crowchild Trail, Bow River, 32nd Avenue NW, it borders Silver Springs, Bowness, Montgomery, and the University of Calgary campus.
The neighbourhood is comprised of three major areas: Varsity Acres, Varsity Village, and Varsity Estates, with Varsity Acres being the oldest sector. The community is served by F.E. Osborne Junior High School, Varsity Acres Bilingual Elementary schools, along with other public and Catholic schools.
Silver Springs Golf & Country Club borders the west side of the community, and the community has direct access to Market Mall. Other parks and green spaces, such as Dale Hodges Park, provide optimal locations for outdoor activities and adventures.
