Located on the eastern edge of the city, Erin Woods is bounded by 52 Street Se, Peigan Trail, and the Canadian National Railway tracks. Annexed by the City of Calgary in 1961, Erin Woods was officially established in 1981.
Community amenities include the East Calgary Twin Arena, Erin Woods Park with sports fields, and a few retail spaces with local businesses. Erin Woods is served by Erin Woods Elementary School, and the neighbouring communities of Forest Lawn and Dover offer higher education with both junior and senior high schools.
