CREB HABITAT FOR HUMANITY BUILD DAY 2023!

At Urban Upgrade & NewInfills, it's not always about buying and selling real estate!

From time to time, we try to take a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday real estate life and get out there to do something good for the city we love. This past week, 5 of our team members volunteered at CREB's Habitat for Humanity Build Day to support Calgarians needing affordable home ownership.

A FUN AND REWARDING DAY
With guidance from Habitat staff and volunteer crew leaders, our team assisted at Habitat for Humanity's 11-unit townhome project in Cornerstone. We installed cabinets, adjusted doors, and installed window and door casings. Surprisingly, nothing was dropped or broken... and hopefully, none of our efforts will require a redo by the professionals!

The CREB® REALTOR® Community Foundation hosted this event in collaboration with Habitat for Humanity.

ABOUT HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
Habitat for Humanity Southern Alberta is a non-profit organization that helps families build strength, stability and independence through affordable home ownership. With the help of sponsors, donors, community partners and volunteers, they build homes alongside future homeowners to provide a solid foundation for better, healthier futures.

Families purchase their homes with no down payment and no interest, and monthly payments never exceed more than 25 to 30 percent of each family's gross eligible income. Since 1990, they have partnered with more than 354 families across southern Alberta, affecting the lives of more than 1000 children.

Earlier this year, Habitat for Humanity Southern Alberta broke ground on new, affordable townhomes in the Northeast Calgary community of Cornerstone. These homes will provide 11 local families with the opportunity to purchase an affordable home and provide housing stability to their families.

DID YOU KNOW?
Eleven percent of Albertans are in core housing need, paying more than 30 percent of their income to find adequate, suitable, affordable housing for their families. This is where Habitat for Humanity plays a pivotal role by bringing the community together to help families build strength, stability and independence through affordable home ownership.

Since 2019, the federal government has committed $4,244,682 towards Habitat Southern Alberta projects, including these homes in Cornerstone.

Thank you to the CREB® REALTOR® Community Foundation and Habitat for Humanity for your fantastic work for our community and for helping us level up our skills and participate in the Build Day program!
